FISH of Sanibel-Captiva has recently updated its food pantry hours to better serve families in need.
Many families are facing tough choices when it comes to food. The rising cost of living, along with the impact of Hurricanes Ian, Helene, and Milton, has made it harder for some to afford nutritious meals. People are often left deciding between buying groceries and paying for rent or medications.
To help, FISH has adjusted its food pantry hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This pantry is open to island residents and the local workforce, providing essential groceries like fresh produce, shelf-stable items, and hygiene products. It’s one of the most-used resources offered by FISH.
In addition to the pantry, FISH runs several other food programs, including Meals by FISH, Fresh Meal Boxes, a Children’s Backpack Program, and a Holiday Meal Program. These programs require an intake process to better allocate resources to those in need.
Executive Director Maria Espinoza emphasized the increasing demand for help, stating, “Our neighbors are struggling to make impossible choices every day.” With community support, FISH aims to ensure that no family has to go hungry.
