Box Office Highlights: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Shines This Weekend

This weekend, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is making a big splash at the box office. With an expected debut between $45 million and $47 million, it’s set to break records for the first weekend of December. This follows a strong opening Friday of around $24.5 million.

Previously, the record for this weekend was held by The Last Samurai, which earned $24.2 million in 2003. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 even outperformed Frozen 2, which took $35.1 million in its third weekend during the post-Thanksgiving period in 2019.

The sequel is outperforming Disney’s second weekend of Zootopia 2, which is projected to earn about $10 million for the weekend. By the end of Sunday, Zootopia 2 is expected to have a total of around $222.4 million.

Experts note that the holiday season is crucial for box office success. According to a recent box office analysis, the overall earnings for December are expected to surpass last year’s total of $137.2 million, thanks to significant films like Moana 2 and Wicked II.

In other releases, Wicked: For Good, now in its third weekend, is looking at a total of about $288.1 million. It’s trailing behind its predecessor, which made $36.4 million during its third weekend.

Anime fans are in for a treat with Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, which is set to pull in about $4.5 million today. This is an adaptation of the popular manga and is generating buzz among viewers.

Lastly, Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Blood Affair, despite limited screenings, is expected to earn around $4 million. Tarantino’s following remains strong, even with a condensed release.

Overall, this weekend shows a lively box office, driven largely by Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. It’s fascinating to see how these films are carving out their place in an increasingly competitive landscape, especially during the festive season.
