During his visit to the store, Gilder walked away with three pairs of earrings valued at $769,500 and a stunning ring worth $587,000—all without paying a cent. Quite a haul!
But his luck ran out when police pulled him over on Interstate 10 in Washington County. They arrested him for resisting arrest and discovered he had 48 outstanding warrants from Colorado. You may wonder why police didn’t find the stolen jewelry immediately.
The twist? After he was taken to jail, they conducted a body scan and found the stolen earrings floating in his abdomen! Yes, he had swallowed them in a desperate attempt to hide his crime. The police noted that they suspected these foreign objects to be the missing Tiffany earrings, but they needed to wait until Gilder passed them before confirming.
