TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State lacrosse team faced a tough match against No. 11 Boston College, losing 19-7 on Tuesday at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex.
The game started with Boston College scoring four quick goals. Florida State fought back, with Lola Mancuso scoring the Seminoles’ first point. Freshman Brynn Perkins quickly followed, closing the gap to 4-2. A key turnover allowed sophomore Meg Kenny to make it 4-3 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Boston College scored three more goals, pushing their lead to 7-3. However, a strong save by Catrina Tobin led to a transition opportunity, resulting in a goal from rookie Summer Harrell. Florida State went into halftime trailing 8-5.
The second half was challenging for the Seminoles. Boston College came out strong, scoring five consecutive goals. Though Harrell managed to score again, making it 13-6 by the end of the third quarter, Florida State was unable to recover. Harrell completed her hat trick in the final period, marking her third goal of the game, but the team ultimately fell 19-7.
On the bright side, Harrell has now scored eight goals this season and achieved her first career hat trick. Mancuso’s scoring streak also continues, now at 21 games.
Next up, Florida State will take on the number one team, North Carolina, this Friday at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill. The game starts at 5 p.m.
