Florida State Dominates the Big 12 Championship
Florida State University (FSU) has made history by winning its first-ever Big 12 championship in beach volleyball. The No. 1 seeded team finished strong, defeating No. 3 Arizona and No. 2 TCU in Tucson, Arizona.
In the semifinals against Arizona, FSU swept the Wildcats 3-0. Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig set the tone with a solid win, finishing 21-15, 21-11. Their teammates Bailey Higgins and Myriah Massey followed up with another quick victory, winning 21-12, 21-17.
The championship match featured a rematch against TCU, marking the fourth meeting between the two teams this season. FSU secured the first two points, with Higgins and Massey winning their match 21-16, 21-14. In a thrilling contest, Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty clinched the title with a three-set victory, finishing 18-21, 21-16, 15-8. The final score was 3-0 in favor of FSU.
This year was notable for FSU as it entered its first season with the Big 12. They achieved an impressive record of 11 wins and only one loss in conference play. Looking ahead, FSU aims to continue their success at the NCAA Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The selection show is set for April 26.
