The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Christian Dvorak to a new five-year contract worth $25.75 million. General manager Daniel Briere shared the news recently. This contract will see Dvorak carry a cap hit of $5.15 million each year, starting next NHL season and continuing through 2030-31.
Briere expressed excitement about Dvorak’s future with the team. He emphasized how important Dvorak has been for the Flyers this season. “He has played a pivotal role,” Briere noted, highlighting Dvorak’s reliability as a two-way center who excels in various situations. “He fits perfectly into our locker room and the culture we’re building.”
Dvorak, 29, has made quite an impression in his first season with the Flyers after joining as a free agent in July. Although he took a slight pay cut from his current salary of $5.4 million, the new deal offers him long-term security through age 35.
In just 39 games this season, Dvorak has scored nine goals and assisted on 16 others, totaling 25 points. This puts him tied for third on the Flyers’ scoring list. He’s on track to break his previous scoring record of 38 points, achieved during a pandemic-shortened season with the Arizona Coyotes in 2019-20.
