Food Lion Celebrates Educators with ‘Carts of Kindness’
In Bryans Road, Maryland, Food Lion brought smiles to J.C. Parks Elementary School on May 4, 2026. As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, the team surprised teachers and staff with a special gift.
They delivered a “Carts of Kindness” filled with snacks and drinks for everyone. Teachers received Pantry Pack meal kits, which included Food Lion products and recipe cards. Each educator also got personalized thank-you notes, coupons, and gift cards.
Food Lion associates didn’t stop there. They stocked the school’s pantry with shelf-stable items, ensuring support for students and families continued beyond the event. Timothy Oglesbee, the local store manager, expressed pride in their partnership with the school. “When students see this care, it builds stronger communities,” he said.
Principal Hughes G. Valmond praised the teachers’ dedication. “Our educators truly care for every student, and this recognition means so much,” he noted.
This event is part of Food Lion’s larger effort, dubbed “Carts of Kindness.” Across ten states, the company is visiting over 170 schools to show appreciation for educators. Recent studies show that community support for teachers has a positive impact on student success. The National Education Association found that 90% of teachers feel supported when their work is recognized by the community.
By fostering these connections, Food Lion is fulfilling its commitment to nourish not just bodies, but communities too.
