Brady Ebert, former guitarist of the acclaimed hardcore band Turnstile, faces serious charges after a troubling incident involving his close friend’s father. He is accused of attempted second-degree murder for allegedly hitting William Yates with his car.
On March 29, police discovered Yates outside his home with severe injuries, including a broken leg. Reports say Ebert drove to Yates’s house, honked, and then returned after some heated words. In a confrontation, Yates threw a rock at Ebert’s vehicle, prompting Ebert to drive toward him.
After his arrest on March 31, Ebert was charged not only with attempted murder but also with first-degree assault. He remains in custody without bond. In court, Ebert claimed that surveillance footage would prove his innocence. However, the judge described the attack as targeted and violent.
Turnstile confirmed that William Yates is recovering from surgery and expressed relief at his survival. The band acknowledged a history of problematic behavior from Ebert, which led them to cut ties. They emphasized that they had tried to support him but ultimately had to establish boundaries.
Brady Ebert, who co-founded Turnstile in 2010, left the band in 2022. His departure followed ongoing issues that strained his relationships within the group. For instance, Ebert briefly formed a new band called Self-Evident Truth but was soon removed after making serious allegations about Turnstile’s finances.
