Four students from Empire State University have been honored with the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence for 2026. Lenti Aier, Muhammad Amirul Islam Fahim, Jessica Nivens, and Christol Wright will receive their awards at a ceremony at the Albany Capital Center on April 27.
The Chancellor’s Award is the highest recognition for SUNY students, celebrating those who excel in academics, leadership, community service, and the arts. Lenti Aier is pursuing a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis. Originally from Red Hook, NY, she already holds a master’s in psychology from India. Aier founded the Act of Kindness Society in 2015, focusing on service to her community. She recently earned the Bluebird Award for her volunteer work. She sees this new recognition as a motivation to continue her journey of growth and service.
Muhammad Amirul Islam Fahim is also set to graduate with a master’s in applied behavior analysis in the fall. Hailing from Bangladesh, he is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. Fahim works as a residential program specialist and is certified in crisis intervention techniques. His award acknowledgment is a recognition of his relentless commitment to his education and the support he received from his mentors.
Jessica Nivens is on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in addiction studies. As a mother of five, she balances her studies with roles as a recovery advocate and prevention director at a local recovery center.
