Frankie Muniz recently posted an exciting photo from the set of the new “Malcolm in the Middle” revival. He shared a glimpse of his reunion with co-stars Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson. The revival, titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” nods to the original show’s theme song. It will air on Disney+ in 2026. Muniz will reprise his role as Malcolm, navigating life in his quirky suburban family alongside Berfield and Masterson, who return as his older brothers, Francis and Reese.
Returning cast members include Bryan Cranston as Hal, Malcolm’s dad, and Jane Kaczmarek as Lois, his mom. Fans will also see Craig Lamar Traylor as Stevie and Gary Anthony Williams as his father, Abe. Emy Coligado will play Francis’ wife, and David Anthony Higgins will return as Lois’ coworker, Craig.
A few changes appear in the cast as well. Dewey, once played by Erik Per Sullivan, now has Caleb Ellsworth-Clark in the role. Jamie, the youngest brother, is played by Anthony Timpano this time. The revival introduces a new sibling, Kelly, who is nonbinary. There’s also Malcolm’s girlfriend, Tristan, and his daughter, Leah.
This revival comes during a resurgence of nostalgia in TV, with many classic shows making comebacks. A recent survey found that nearly 70% of viewers enjoy revisiting old favorites.
