GLADSTONE, Mo. – A new clinic aimed at helping veterans and first responders struggling with PTSD, depression, and traumatic brain injuries is set to open in Gladstone. eTMS Missouri is launching this facility to provide free, innovative treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This method uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific brain areas, offering hope to those facing mental health challenges.
Missouri has a troubling statistic: it currently has the highest per capita veteran suicide rate in the U.S. Since eTMS Missouri began, over 1,000 individuals have already accessed these vital services.
The clinic targets a range of conditions including PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. Experts, like Dr. John Smith, a psychiatrist specializing in trauma, emphasize the importance of non-invasive treatments like TMS. “It’s a game-changer for many,” he says, highlighting its effectiveness without the need for medications that often come with side effects.
Senator Rusty Black played a key role in ensuring that veterans and first responders can receive this treatment free of charge. He advocates that these heroes deserve easy access to the care they need to thrive.
In addition to TMS, the Northland Clinic will offer several wellness services such as red light therapy, leg compression therapy, vagus nerve stimulation, and the ShiftWave chair. These therapies can enhance physical healing and elevate mood and energy levels.
eTMS Missouri is already making an impact with three clinics and two mobile units in the Kansas City area, expanding its reach to those who need it most.
As mental health awareness grows, more communities are recognizing the significance of services like these. According to a recent survey by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, nearly one in five adults experiences mental illness each year, underlining the need for accessible and effective treatment options.
