Freeman Health System, based in Joplin, Missouri, has announced its agreement to purchase Northwest Health from Community Health Systems for $112 million. This move brings Northwest Health’s facilities—like the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale and Willow Creek Women’s Hospital—under Freeman’s umbrella.
The deal is set to finalize in the second quarter, depending on regulatory approvals. Freeman has kept some specifics about the number of clinics involved under wraps, stating they have shared all information possible so far.
With this acquisition, Freeman Health System aims to enhance its services. The organization offers a range of care, including cancer treatment and neurosurgery, and has over 300 medical professionals on staff. The addition of Northwest Health is seen as a natural extension of their reach, marking Freeman’s entry into Arkansas.
Once the deal is completed, Northwest Health will transition to a nonprofit health system and will undergo rebranding. The leadership and staff—over 1,500 caregivers—will remain intact, ensuring continuity in patient care.
