From Coding in India to Conquering Wall Street: My Journey to Success

I grew up in Kolkata, India, a city that sparked my curiosity and ambition. From a young age, I dreamed of studying computer science in New York City. When I got accepted into Pace University’s MS in Computer Science program with a merit-based scholarship, it felt like a dream come true. They recognized my experience as a software engineer and my research contributions.

Starting at Pace at 25 was exciting, but it wasn’t easy. The academic environment was competitive. I faced significant challenges, including a long hospitalization that made me want to give up. One professor’s words kept me going: “You’re already in the top 20 percent. Step out of your comfort zone and get into the top 5 percent.” That motivated me to push through.

I graduated early in May 2023. My success came from proper preparation, support from professors, and the guidance of Pace’s Career Services.

Right after graduating, I landed an internship at a multimillion-dollar tech firm. But I aimed higher. In 2024, I joined Wells Fargo as a senior software engineer. At just 27, I became the youngest senior engineer on a significant federal project there. During my interview, I impressed the panel of experienced candidates. They were surprised by my knowledge at such a young age. I attribute my success to hard work and the support I received along the way.

Now, I lead diverse teams at Wells Fargo, connecting with people from various backgrounds. This experience, shaped by Pace’s International Buddy Program, has been invaluable in my career.
