From Farm to Fortune: How a Farmer’s Son from Himachal Became the Richest Indian in the US with Billion!

Jay Chaudhry, the founder of Zscaler, is a remarkable example of turning dreams into reality. With a net worth exceeding $10 billion, his journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh, India, to the heights of global entrepreneurship is truly inspiring. Chaudhry grew up facing many challenges, yet his determination and innovative spirit drove him forward.

Born in Panoh village, Chaudhry came from a family of farmers. There was no running water or electricity, and he often studied in the shade of a tree. Despite these hardships, he walked 4 kilometers each day to reach his school in Dhusara. His hard work paid off, and he excelled in his studies.

Chaudhry earned a degree in electronics from IIT Varanasi (now IIT-BHU) and moved to the United States in 1980. There, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and later attended Harvard Business School for an executive program.

In 1996, Chaudhry began his entrepreneurial journey by investing in SecureIT, a startup focused on internet security. This led to several other successful ventures, including AirDefense and Cipher Trust. However, his biggest achievement came in 2007, when he launched Zscaler. The company has become a leader in cloud-based security solutions, handling billions of transactions each day and serving major clients, including Fortune 500 companies.

Despite his success, Chaudhry remains committed to giving back. He has donated millions to various causes, including education and healthcare, helping others succeed just as he has.
