Chicks Lifestyle, a family-run clothing store in Hong Kong, specializes in thermal wear and innerwear. Since it began in 1953, Chicks has provided families with high-quality clothing. The business is currently led by sisters Alicia and Jennifer Tam. They take pride in offering products made from natural and biodegradable materials, showing their commitment to sustainability. In 2017, the store also launched online shopping.

Chicks faced challenges with its in-house data center. During hot summer months, store operations were disrupted by server crashes, causing 1 to 2 hours of downtime. On the other hand, winter brought a surge in demand, increasing customers waiting times at checkout. To tackle these issues and reduce costs, Chicks decided to migrate to cloud services.

To enhance its operations, Chicks collaborated with Baro Solutions, an AWS Partner. Baro provided guidance throughout the migration process, which took just six weeks without any data loss for critical systems like SAP and POS. Alicia Tam noted the significance of Baro’s help, saying, “Without their support, the migration could have taken four to six months.” With this smooth transition to AWS, Chicks now enjoys 99.99 percent availability and has improved its operational efficiency by 30 percent. This means quicker transactions and better customer service, both online and in-store.
