From Quizzes to the Siachen Glacier: How MY Bharat Youth are Shaping Leadership and Patriotism

In a groundbreaking initiative, a group of young Indians will exchange the excitement of a digital quiz for the challenges of Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield. This unique journey, announced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aims to teach them about leadership, resilience, and national pride.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the MY Bharat program has already reached over 1.8 crore young people, instilling values of service and duty. As part of this program, the National Flag Quiz took place on the MY Bharat platform from August 1-15, 2025. It attracted over 1.1 lakh participants nationwide.

The quiz winners will travel to the Siachen Base Camp from September 28 to 30, 2025. Here, they will engage with the Indian Armed Forces and learn firsthand about the challenges faced by soldiers in this extreme environment. They’ll tour military training areas, pay respects at a war memorial, and meet the brave men and women protecting India’s borders.

This visit is not just about the military; it also includes experiences in Leh’s rich cultural backdrop. Participants will learn about local businesses and entrepreneurship, adding a valuable layer to their understanding of the region.

Each young participant will carry a handwritten letter to the Army, sharing their vision for a developed India and acknowledging the forces’ critical role in securing the nation.

This initiative aims to deepen the youth’s connection to India’s border areas and nurture pride in their country. By transitioning from a quiz to a visit to Siachen, MY Bharat fosters a new generation ready to serve and lead.

Recent studies highlight that such exposure can significantly boost youths’ civic engagement. The National Youth Policy 2021 advocates for programs that promote leadership skills among young people in India, making this initiative even more relevant.

As conversations about national service grow on social media, many users express excitement and pride over these young people’s unique opportunity. This interaction with the Armed Forces could inspire similar programs nationwide, adding value not only to the participants but also to the country’s future as they emerge as committed citizens.
