The Florida State men’s golf team had a strong performance at the Seminole Intercollegiate, finishing the tournament at 8-under par, which was the best overall. They scored a solid 4-under 284 on the final day.
Tyler Weaver led the team, claiming second place with a total score of 6-under 210. He made an impressive move after scoring a birdie on the fourth hole and an eagle on the sixth. However, cold and windy conditions on the back nine posed a challenge, leading to a couple of bogeys.
Carson Brewer also had a good day, finishing even par with a score of 72. He ended the tournament at 1-under 215, marking his fifth career top 10 finish.
Wilmer Edero tied for seventh place with a score of even par, 270. He had three birdies in his final round, securing his spot among the tournament’s top players.
Jack Bigham shot his best round of the event, finishing 2-under 70, while Jack Whaley ended the tournament at 3-over 219 with 16 pars in his round.
This victory is a great boost for the Seminoles as they prepare for their next challenge at the Valspar Collegiate on March 23-24 at the Grand Floridian Golf Club.
Golf continues to grow in popularity, with recent surveys showing a significant increase in youth participation. In 2022, over 3 million kids played golf, a substantial rise from previous years. This uptick may inspire future stars of the sport, further enriching college programs like Florida State’s.
As they move forward, it will be interesting to see how the Seminoles build on their recent success and inspire the next generation of golfers.
