Lazard enjoys seeing kids engage with science. But what really warms his heart is watching their parents discover new things too. “It’s rewarding,” he says, “to share a deeper understanding of science with them.”
### A New Chapter with Helicity Space
Now, Lazard is gearing up for his next adventure at Helicity Space. This startup is innovating with fusion propulsion technology, aiming for a greener way to travel in space. “Chemical rockets use up a lot of fuel,” he explains. “With fusion energy, we could potentially travel to Mars or even beyond in much less time.”
In addition to technological advancements, Lazard emphasizes the importance of support. He credits his partner, Abriana, for being by his side during tough times in grad school, even while she manages her own studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
As graduation nears, Lazard reflects on a cherished memory—watching “Interstellar” for the first time. “I wept during the IMAX re-release this year,” he admits. “As a kid, I loved it, but as an adult, the message resonated even more.”
He believes the film’s core message is profound: “Love is what gets you everywhere. It transcends time and space.”
