Galway City Council Invites Local Environmental Groups to Showcase Their Voices at Upcoming Climate Festival!

Galway City Council is inviting groups to participate in the Galway Climate Festival this September. The festival is a fun four-day event celebrating local efforts toward climate action through art, music, and community activities.

The festival kicks off with ‘Giob Geab,’ led by Shani Williams from Australia. She has over 20 years of experience in performance and will guide the evening with storytelling that brings people together.

Local groups, including biodiversity and social enterprises, are encouraged to share their projects and ideas. This is a great chance to connect with Galway City Council members who work on climate actions daily.

“The first Giob Geab was an inspiring night, showcasing creative climate initiatives,” said Tiarnan McCusker, Community Climate Action officer. “We hope to see even more participation this year.”

‘Giob Geab’ originally launched in March 2025 as an Irish version of the Japanese presentation style called ‘Pecha Kucha,’ which allows presenters five minutes and five slides to get their message across.

The festival will run from September 10-14, 2025, with ‘Giob Geab’ starting on September 11. If you’re interested in presenting, submissions are open until August 22, 2025.

As climate change becomes a pressing global issue, local actions like those seen at the Galway Climate Festival gain importance.
