Eastern Kentucky University Adds Seven Talented Softball Players
Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is excited to announce the signing of seven new players for its softball team during the fall signing period. Head coach Jane Worthington shared the news on Wednesday.
Meet the New Players:
Kenna Streeval (Utility)
Hailing from Edinburgh, Indiana, Kenna plays for Edinburgh Community High School. She was named the Mid-Hoosier Conference Most Outstanding Player last season, boasting an impressive .700 batting average, 47 runs, 12 doubles, eight triples, and 10 home runs. Kenna also excels in volleyball, basketball, and track.Sayuri Toledo (Pitcher)
From Cathedral City, California, Sayuri is a standout pitcher at Cathedral City High School. She earned All-CIF honors in 2024 and 2025. In her junior year, she achieved a .562 batting average with five home runs and 36 RBIs. Sayuri played a vital role in leading her team to its first-ever postseason appearance and championship game.Hayliee Roberts (Pitcher)
Hayliee, from Grove City, Ohio, is another skilled pitcher joining EKU. She has received multiple honors, including First Team All-District. Last year, she struck out 203 batters in 153.1 innings, helping her high school team reach the district finals.Hannah Wiley (Infielder)
Hannah comes to EKU from Peaster, Texas. She was named the District 8-3A Defensive MVP, contributing to her team’s district championship. With a 4.7 weighted GPA, she also excels in academics, ranking first in her class.Abby Wiley (Outfielder)
Abby, the twin sister of Hannah, also joins the Colonels from Peaster High School. She recorded a .667 batting average in her sophomore year and was named District 8-3A Defensive Player of the Year. Abby ranks third in her class with a 4.7 GPA.Teagan Fetcho (Outfielder)
From Lebanon, Tennessee, Teagan had a standout junior season, achieving All-District 7-4A honors. She posted a .424 batting average and recorded 27 stolen bases, showcasing her speed and skill.Brynnen Williams (Infielder)
Brynnen is joining from Winchester, Virginia, where she had a .524 batting average last season. She was recognized as a First Team All-Region and All-District selection, demonstrating her talent on the field.
This new group of athletes comes on the heels of EKU’s impressive 38-16 season, where they made it to the ASUN Championship game. Their commitment and skills promise to enhance the team’s performance and bring more success in the upcoming seasons.
In recent years, the importance of developing young talent for college sports has become clearer. According to a 2023 survey by the NCAA, nearly 40% of high school athletes aspire to play at the collegiate level, demonstrating the growing interest in competitive sports.
