Georgetown University Athletics Triumphs Over Pirates: A Thrilling Match Recap!

Washington, D.C. – The Georgetown University baseball team wrapped up the season with a strong 7-2 win against Seton Hall University at Capital One Park. The Hoyas finished with a record of 28-28, while the Pirates ended their season at 16-30.

“Today meant a lot for our seniors and the entire team,” said Head Coach Edwin Thompson. “Winning five of our last seven BIG EAST games shows the resilience of this group. JT Raab was outstanding today, especially with his career-high 13 strikeouts. Every senior in the lineup recorded a hit, and Brett Blair had a standout day with a two-run homer. This senior class has greatly influenced our program, and they will be missed.” Thompson also expressed gratitude to the fans for their support throughout the season.

The game highlighted some impressive moments:

  • In the second inning, Blair hit a two-run homer, putting the Hoyas ahead 2-0.
  • In the fourth, Seymore added an RBI single, extending the lead to 3-0.
  • The seventh inning saw Blair drive in two more runs, followed by another two-RBI single from Solomon, bringing the score to 7-0.
  • Though the Pirates scored twice in the ninth inning, the Hoyas secured their victory.

Raab’s performance was a highlight. Not only did he achieve a personal best in strikeouts, but his pitching was crucial to the win. Blair’s continued success at the plate, with his second home run of the season, also stands out.

Overall, finishing with 28 wins is a significant achievement for the Hoyas, marking the fifth-most victories in the program’s history. The team’s consistent performance over the last five seasons reflects their dedication and growth. As they prepare to move forward, the focus will be on building from this experience and striving for future success.
