Nebraska Extension is hosting a ServSafe Food Managers Training class on Tuesday, October 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Chadron State College Student Union in the Ponderosa Room.
This certification program is perfect for food service managers and supervisors. The course focuses on key food safety topics that everyone in the food service industry should know, including:

- Best practices for safe food handling
- Understanding the flow of food from purchase to service
- Implementing food safety management systems
- Effective cleaning and sanitation procedures
Participants will receive a course manual and take part in eight hours of instruction, followed by a proctored exam for certification. This training aims to equip food service professionals with the knowledge they need to create a safe dining environment.
The cost for the training is $160, payable to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with payment options available via mail.
It’s important to register by Monday, September 29. You can sign up at this link or call the Morrill County Extension Office at 308-262-1022 for more details.
Food safety is more crucial than ever. Recent statistics show that approximately 48 million people in the U.S. become ill from foodborne illnesses each year. This training not only helps reduce those numbers but also builds confidence among food service staff in maintaining hygiene and safety practices.
