The Diamond Heels are back at Boshamer Stadium for two games this week. They’ll face the NC A&T Aggies on Tuesday and the VCU Rams on Wednesday. Last year, Carolina played these teams at this time and came away with a strong performance, winning 22-8 in total.

Last year’s match against VCU was memorable. The freshman pitcher Walker McDuffie shined with seven strikeouts in just over three innings. The team’s overall pitching was impressive, racking up 14 strikeouts. Offensively, Hunter Stokely made a splash with a three-run homer.
Against the Aggies, Carolina claimed a 13-4 victory. Freshman Perry Hargett had a standout debut, hitting three times and driving in four RBIs, including a three-run homer late in the game. Gallaher also contributed with three hits, including a home run.
This past weekend, the Tar Heels split their series with East Carolina. The games included a rare tie, which hadn’t happened for Carolina since 2005. In their first game, Carolina dominated with a 10-0 run-rule victory. Everyone on the team managed to get a hit, with Cooper Nicholson leading the way. The highlight was Jason DeCaro’s complete game shutout, which was their first eight-inning complete game in a decade.
Historically, the Tar Heels have been strong against non-conference opponents, boasting a .752 win rate under Coach Forbes. Last season, they posted an impressive 25-4 record against out-of-conference teams.
