Get Inspired: NFL Coach Ben Steele to Headline Colorado Mesa University’s 2025 Commencement

CMU Celebrates 1,478 Graduates on May 17

On May 17, Colorado Mesa University (CMU) will honor 1,478 graduates with a total of 1,668 degrees and certificates. This year’s keynote speaker is Ben Steele, currently the tight ends coach for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and a proud CMU alumnus.

Steele’s journey is an inspiring one. After graduating from Palisade High School and CMU, he made his way into the NFL. Now in his 17th season of coaching and 12th in the NFL, Steele joined the Cardinals in 2023 after spending time with the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and Minnesota Vikings. His story embodies the spirit of this graduating class, showcasing how hard work and perseverance can lead to success.

Nearly half of this year’s graduates hail from western Colorado, and many are the first in their families to attend college. This highlight underscores CMU’s commitment to serving its local community and expanding opportunities for those who are paving new paths for themselves and their families. In addition to bachelor’s and master’s degrees, CMU will also award numerous associate degrees, certificates, and credentials that are vital for the region’s economy and skilled trades workforce.

Steele’s presence at the ceremony will serve as a powerful reminder of the value of higher education. Graduates are encouraged to embrace qualities like resilience, courage, and a desire to make a positive impact in their communities. As they prepare to step into the next chapter of their lives, they carry these values forward, much like Steele has throughout his career.

The excitement builds as CMU prepares for its 2025 commencement ceremony on May 17. This event is not just a celebration of academic achievements but also a testament to the promise and potential of its graduates.
