Preparations for the 2025 Zimbabwe Climate Change Sustainability Week and Green Business Expo are moving forward quickly. This event will happen from September 16 to 18, 2025, in Bulawayo, organized by The ClimatePrenuer in collaboration with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company and the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife. It will be held at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (Zices).
The theme for the expo is “Towards a Green Economy: Zimbabwe’s Roadmap to Growth.” This three-day gathering will unite government officials, businesses, academics, NGOs, and community leaders. The goal is to turn Zimbabwe’s climate challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth.
Already, the momentum for the event is strong. Kwanele Hlabangana, the executive chairman of The ClimatePrenuer, shared that there’s been a tremendous response from government bodies, private investors, and international partners eager to engage in meaningful climate action. He stated, “We’re excited about how well the preparations are going. This will undoubtedly be a landmark event.”
The expo aims to facilitate partnerships that drive tangible results in areas like carbon trading and renewable energy. Participants can also explore investment opportunities in urban planning and waste management. Hlabangana emphasized the significance of this event, saying it aligns with Zimbabwe’s climate goals and global standards.
In addition to discussions about technology and partnerships, the event will host three main conferences: the Sustainable Cities Conference, the Resource Conference, and the Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity Conference. These will target various stakeholders to discuss practical steps toward a greener economy.
Dr. Evelyn Ndlovu, the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, is set to deliver the keynote address along with other notable speakers. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in interactive panels and workshops, gaining insights into innovative green practices. Recent studies show that engaging in such events positively influences public awareness about climate action, as demonstrated by a 2023 survey indicating that 78% of participants feel more informed about sustainable practices after attending similar expos.
Events like the Climate Change Sustainability Week are crucial, especially given the increasing effects of climate change seen around the world. They highlight the need for collective action and innovative solutions. As we approach the expo dates, the focus on sustainability and climate resilience continues to grow in Zimbabwe and beyond.
