Get Ready for Action: Discover the Exciting 2025 Spring Schedule for UMBC Men’s Soccer!

BALTIMORE – UMBC Head Men’s Soccer Coach Anthony Adams has shared the spring schedule for the team. The highlight is the 11th annual Kicks for Chase game at Retriever Soccer Park on April 18.

The Retrievers finished last season with a record of 8-7-4. They performed well in the America East Conference, securing a 4-2-1 record. Junior midfielder Joseph Picotto and sophomore striker Ryan Calheira both had impressive seasons, each scoring five goals. Junior goalie Emigdio Tormo Lopez showed great skill, allowing just 1.20 goals per game. The Retrievers even defeated national champion Vermont during the regular season but fell to them in double overtime during the America East Tournament.

“We are again playing some very good opponents in the spring season,” Coach Adams stated. “The team is excited for competitive games.”

On March 8, UMBC will host James Madison at 2:00 pm. The Dukes finished last fall with an 8-5-6 record and reached the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Junior Sebastian Conlon earned the title of Goalkeeper of the Year, while sophomore Luca Nikola was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

The Retrievers will return to Retriever Soccer Park on March 29 to face George Washington at 3:00 pm. Louis Crofts stood out among newcomers in the Atlantic-10 last fall, leading his team with five goals and ten points.

American will visit on April 5 at 5:00 pm. The Eagles had a solid season, going 4-2-3 in the Patriot League, and they made it to the semifinals. Junior forward Troy Elgerma was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year by scoring 13 points.

UMBC will then hit the road on April 12 to face Penn and Georgetown in Philadelphia. Penn had an impressive season, finishing 14-1-1 in the Ivy League and clinching both the regular-season and tournament titles. They made the NCAA First Round but lost 1-0 to UMass. Georgetown finished with a record of 11-5-5 and captured the Big East Championship but fell to N.C. State 2-0 in the NCAA First Round. Earlier this season, UMBC and Georgetown played to a scoreless draw.

The Kicks for Chase game is set for April 18 at 7:00 pm, and junior forward A.J. Schuetz, who scored four goals last season, made it to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

Finally, UMBC will close out the spring with the UMBC Alumni Day game on April 26 at 3:00 pm.
