Oregon Ducks Head to NCATA Championships
The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team is set to begin the NCATA Championships this week, holding the No. 2 seed. They will face No. 7 Gannon on Thursday, marking their second matchup of the season. In their last encounter on March 6, Oregon came out on top with a score of 276.055 to 270.570.
If they win this quarterfinal, they’ll advance to the semifinals on Friday against the winner of No. 3 Quinnipiac and No. 6 Iona. Oregon has already beaten both teams this season. The national championship will take place on Saturday, followed by event finals on Sunday morning.
Oregon’s Championship Legacy
This marks Oregon’s 15th appearance at the NCATA National Championships. The Ducks have a strong history, reaching the finals ten times and winning four consecutive titles from 2011 to 2014. They hold a 23-10 record in NCATA Championships and have triumphed in 12 opening round matches. Notably, they have 59 event titles to their name, including recent wins in the seven-element acro, open pyramid, and six-element tumbling.
Interestingly, when Oregon has been the No. 2 seed, they have historically performed well, always making it to the championship meet, even claiming the title in 2012.
A Perfect Score
In their recent competition against Quinnipiac, the Ducks achieved their first perfect score of the season—a 10.0 in the compulsory toss. This score came from two strong quintets, showcasing the precision and skill of the team.
Star Performers
Blessyn McMorris, a standout and 2025 NCATA All-American, has been a key player for Oregon, especially in the pyramid event. Her consistent high scores have earned her multiple Athlete of the Week honors. In just the first few competitions of the season, she helped the Ducks achieve impressive scores, solidifying her role as a leader in the team.
