SEATTLE – After making history with their first NCAA tournament appearance, the No. 14 Washington beach volleyball team is eager to continue their success as they kick off the 2025 season at the Spartan Showdown in Tampa, Florida, on February 21-22.
The Huskies are set to start the tournament on Friday, February 21, with an exciting match against No. 16 Florida Atlantic at 8 a.m. PT. Later that day, they will take on the host team, Tampa, at 2 p.m. PT. On Saturday, they will face No. 13 Georgia State at 5 a.m. PT and wrap up the weekend against No. 17 Florida International at 9 a.m. PT.
This year’s roster combines experienced players with fresh talent. Last season, the Huskies achieved a record of 20 wins and are looking to build on that success. They welcome back seven players from the previous year while also adding three freshmen and five transfers to the mix.
Head coach Derek Olson is entering his fourth year and is optimistic about the season ahead. “I’m really excited to watch this team compete and grow throughout the season,” Olson shared. He noted how dedicated the athletes have been in training and how enjoyable it has been to work with them, even as they integrate the newcomers.
