Excitement is building for IllFonic and Gun Interactive’s new game, Halloween. During the recent Sony State of Play event, the teams revealed that this asymmetric stealth horror game will launch on September 8, 2026, on platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. A thrilling gameplay trailer was also showcased, heightening anticipation.
In Halloween, players dive into the eerie streets of Haddonfield, reminiscent of John Carpenter’s iconic film. You can choose to be either a desperate civilian or Michael Myers himself. Each match unfolds in a tense cat-and-mouse game where your choices can mean the difference between survival and doom.
As a civilian, you’ll need to protect others, gather weapons, and find a way to call for help. Strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking are essential as danger can strike from any dark corner. Michael Myers, on the other hand, uses skills like Shape Jump to remain hidden and execute sudden attacks, keeping players on edge.
Jared Gerritzen, CCO of IllFonic, emphasized their mission to enhance the horror experience. “Our goal is to push the horror experience to the next level with single and multiplayer modes,” he said. Players will either get to embody the boogeyman or the terrified victims of Michael Myers, creating unforgettable moments of fear and survival.
To capture the true essence of the character, the game features motion capture work from Nick Castle, the original actor who portrayed Michael Myers.
As of late, the horror gaming genre has seen a surge in popularity. In 2022, reports noted a 15% increase in interest in horror games compared to the previous year. This trend showcases gamers’ love for the adrenaline of survival horror. With Halloween, this passion is set to intensify.
Fans are already buzzing on social media, sharing theories and excitement using hashtags like #HalloweenGame and #MichaelMyers. This engagement highlights how the game connects with horror enthusiasts and promises to make waves in the gaming community.
With its unique gameplay and rich connection to film history, Halloween is poised to attract both gamers and horror movie fans alike, creating a new chapter in horror gaming.
