Get Ready for Game Day: OU’s Exciting 2026 SEC Football Schedule Revealed!

The Southeastern Conference just announced its 2026 football schedule, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting season for the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Sooners will play 12 games that year, including six at home in Norman. They’ll face two non-conference teams and four SEC rivals at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. In addition to home games, they’ll have five away games and the annual Red River Rivalry against Texas at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Oklahoma’s nine conference opponents were revealed last September. They’ll host Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. The team will travel to face Missouri, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State, plus the showdown with Texas. Notably, five of these opponents ranked in the top 18 of the final 2025 College Football Playoff standings.

For non-conference games, the Sooners will kick off their season on September 5 against UTEP, follow with a tough matchup at Michigan on September 12, and conclude the non-conference slate on September 19 against New Mexico.

This will be the first time in three years that Oklahoma starts its SEC play on the road, taking on Georgia on September 26. This matchup is particularly significant as it marks only the second meeting between the two programs on a college campus.

The Sooners will have a busy October. After an open date on October 3, they’ll clash with Texas on October 10. OU has a solid history against Texas, winning 11 of the last 17 meetings and holding a 30-23-3 record since 1970. They’ll alternate home and away games for the next five weeks. This includes a home game with Kentucky on October 17—a fascinating matchup since it’s the Wildcats’ first visit since 1980.

Oklahoma travels to Mississippi State on October 24 for a historic first meeting between the two schools in football. The following week, they will host South Carolina, and then on November 7, they visit Florida, where they have previously defeated the Gators 55-20 in the 2020 Cotton Bowl.

The last two games of the regular season will be at home against Texas A&M on November 21 and at Missouri on November 28. The Sooners beat Texas A&M the last time they played in 2011 and recently secured a win against Missouri in October.

The SEC is shaking things up with a new nine-game conference schedule starting in 2026. This format will see each school playing three yearly opponents to preserve traditional rivalries. The remaining six games will rotate among other conference schools, ensuring every SEC team faces each other at least once every two years.

As for ticket information, there’s already a waitlist open for 2026 football season tickets. Those on the list will get first dibs on tickets if they become available, along with opportunities for mini plans and single-game offerings. In summary, the Oklahoma Sooners are gearing up for a thrilling 2026 season with a challenging schedule ahead. It looks promising, and fans are sure to stay engaged as the season approaches.
