Get Ready for India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Launching Just in Time for Diwali!

Indian Railways is gearing up to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, expected to debut before Diwali. The service will connect Delhi and Patna, with a stop in Prayagraj, allowing passengers to travel in about 11.5 hours. This is a significant improvement compared to the 12-17 hours usually taken by other trains, such as the Rajdhani Express, which can take up to 23 hours on the same route.

While the exact launch date hasn’t been confirmed, plans for additional routes, including Delhi-Ahmedabad and Delhi-Bhopal, are in the works. It’s rumored that the Delhi-Ahmedabad train may pass through Jaipur, further enhancing connectivity for travelers in Rajasthan.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train aims to improve travel options for cities located about 1,000 kilometers from Delhi. Currently, there are over 150 daytime Vande Bharat chair car trains operating across India. The sleeper variant is designed for overnight journeys, providing airline-like comforts at regular train prices.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned in Parliament that ten sets of sleeper coaches are being produced in Chennai, with plans for fifty more to follow. This move is part of a broader initiative to modernize train travel in India.

• Speed: Capable of reaching up to 180 km/h, with an operational speed of around 160 km/h.
• Fare: Likely to be higher than that of Rajdhani Express.
• Coaches: Sixteen total, including AC 3-Tier, 2-Tier, and First Class options.
