HBO Max just dropped the first teaser for its new series, “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” a spinoff from the beloved “Big Bang Theory.” The teaser premiered during an event for advertisers in New York, where stars Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie presented it. The show will start on July 23 at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes airing weekly.
The plot revolves around Stuart Bloom, played by Sussman, who owns a comic book store. After accidentally damaging a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, he faces a multiverse crisis. He gets help from his girlfriend Denise and his friends, Bert, a geologist, and Barry, a quantum physicist who can be a bit problematic. The group encounters alternate versions of characters familiar to fans, hinting that things are about to get chaotic.
This new series comes from the creative minds of Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady. It marks the fourth entry in the “Big Bang” universe, following the original series and its prequel, “Young Sheldon,” which concluded in May 2024. A new spinoff called “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” premiered in October 2024.
