Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are teaming up for an exciting new project. They are in talks to star in and produce Tough Guys, an action-comedy being developed at Amazon MGM Studios.
The script, written by Daniel Gold, follows two henchmen who are tired of being treated as expendable. They decide to break away from the criminal world and take control of their own fate, all while dodging a relentless assassin.
Gosling was enthusiastic about the script and even brought Ferrell on board. This partnership is timely; Gosling is a favorite at Amazon MGM, with another film, Project Hail Mary, set to release on March 20, 2026. The anticipation for this sci-fi film is building, especially after its recent trailer debut.
Ferrell is also a prominent figure at the studio, having starred in the newly released You’re Cordially Invited and an upcoming film by Nicholas Stoller.
Behind the scenes, Gosling is set to produce Tough Guys through his General Admission banner, while Ferrell is working with Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez. Trevor Engelson and Aaron Folbe from Underground are lined up as executive producers.
This collaboration comes at a time when audiences are craving fresh, original content. According to a recent survey by Deloitte, 64% of viewers reported a desire for unique stories in film and television. With proven talents like Gosling and Ferrell involved, Tough Guys could fit the bill nicely.
