The Roster
The team’s youthful energy shone in 2024. Underclassmen contributed 42.8% of the goals and 41.7% of the assists, alongside 100% of goalkeeper minutes. Key player Ella Callanan, a defender who earned WCC All-Freshman honors, leads this group.
Also back is junior midfielder Mikayla Abrenica, who was the top scorer, along with goalkeeper Elise Medrano and defender Kate Sealy, both juniors. Seniors Kylie Smith and Josefine Schlichting will captain the team in 2025, guiding this talented mix of experience and youth.
The roster is strengthening with some exciting additions. Grad-transfer Abigail Colton, a center midfielder from Wake Forest, adds depth and experience. She played in all 24 matches in 2024, helping her team reach the National Championship game.
Defense is bolstered by senior Emma Gonzalez, who arrives from UC Riverside after three solid seasons. She also brings experience from the Puerto Rico Women’s National Team.
Freshman forward Amanda Anders stands out in the new class. Her skills and family ties—her mother, Sherice Bartling, was a standout at USD—make her a player to watch. Other newcomers like Paige Bickley strengthen the defense, while Gianna Melton, Makenna Liebman, and Hailey Vermilyea bring flexibility in attack and midfield.
