In May 2026, a new sporting event called the Enhanced Games will debut in Las Vegas. This league aims to challenge traditional sports by allowing athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). This includes substances like steroids and growth hormones, which are typically banned in sports.

For the 50m freestyle, swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev recently received $1 million for breaking a world record during an exhibition. "A successful year at the Enhanced Games for me is more than I could make in ten careers," he mentioned.

Public reaction has been mixed. While some athletes may be drawn to the financial incentives, including a potential $500,000 prize for winners, others express concerns. Travis Tygart, CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, criticized the initiative, calling it "a dangerous clown show that puts profit over principle." The decision to include PEDs could lead to athletes being banned from prestigious competitions like the Olympics.
