Hyderabad: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is gearing up for the first-ever Shooting League of India (SLI), launching in November. The NRAI recently shared news about key details at a meeting focused on the league’s structure and plans.

They discussed several crucial topics, including how to manage the league, the sports disciplines it will cover, and the recruitment process for players. They also talked about branding, logo design, and how prize money will be distributed.

This initiative is significant for Indian shooting. Many experts believe that professional leagues can drive talent development. NRAI President Kalikesh Singh Deo emphasized, “This league blends elite sports with excitement. It will inspire the next generation of shooters.”

The inaugural edition will feature mixed team events across various categories:

• Pistol: 10M, 25M
• Rifle: 10M, 50M 3P
• Shotgun: Trap & Skeet

Competitions kick off from November 20 to December 2. The league will consist of eight teams divided into two pools. From November 21 to 26, teams will compete, with the top two from each pool advancing to the knockout rounds.

To ensure a balanced competition, shooters will be classified into four tiers:

• Elite Champions
• World Elite
• National Champions
• Junior & Youth Championships

This tiered system aims to mix experienced shooters with fresh talent.

A logo for the Shooting League will be unveiled during an event in New Delhi on June 4, adding to the excitement surrounding the league.
