Get Ready for the KVOE Drive for Food: Join Us on October 30th to Make a Difference!

KVOE’s annual Drive for Food is just around the corner, happening on October 30. This event supports the Salvation Army’s food pantry, which often sees a dip in supplies as summer turns to fall. Captain Mylie Hadden of the Salvation Army notes that this year is no exception; the pantry is currently low on food.

This time, the Drive for Food is focusing on healthy eating. Hadden emphasizes the importance of offering nutritious options to those in need. According to a recent report by Feeding America, over 38 million Americans are food insecure, highlighting the critical need for initiatives like this.

Also benefiting from this drive is the Spartan Stop at Emporia High, an important resource for local students.

Usually, the Drive for Food takes place in mid-October, but this year, it has been shifted to coincide with fall parent-teacher conferences at USD 253. This adjustment allows for greater community engagement and participation.

If you’re in Emporia or the surrounding areas, consider donating. You can easily reach out to KVOE by calling 620-342-1400 or messaging their text line at 620-342-5863. KVOE volunteers will pick up donations directly from your home. Detailed drop-off locations will be provided soon on KVOE’s website. Every contribution counts, and together we can make a difference.

As we approach the event, social media buzz shows that community members are eager to get involved. Local hashtags are trending, and many are sharing their excitement to help those in need, creating a spirit of unity and compassion within the community.
