Get Ready for the OU Intercollegiate: Sooners Gear Up for an Exciting Tournament Presented by PDI

The Oklahoma women’s golf team is gearing up for an exciting event this week in Hutchinson, Kansas. They will host the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate, presented by PDI, at the renowned Prairie Dunes Country Club. This marks the first women’s collegiate tournament to take place at this prestigious course.

The tournament runs over two days, starting on Monday, October 6, with 36 holes of play beginning at 8 a.m. CT. The final round will wrap up the following day. Head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell expressed enthusiasm about the event, noting the course’s excellent condition. “We’re excited about the competition and how our girls will perform on this high-level golf course,” she said.

Fourteen teams will compete, including two ranked in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association top-25. The competition also includes three teams, including Oklahoma, that are receiving votes. The Sooners recently finished third at the Schooner Fall Classic. First-year player Meg Tilma set a record for freshmen with a score of 202 (-8) over 54 holes.

The Oklahoma lineup includes Savannah Barber, Isabelle Schlick, Audrey Rischer, Tilma, and senior Reagan Chaney, who recently achieved her seventh career top-10 finish. Competing individually will be Satonkan (Earn) Thiengsri and Gracie Mayo.

This tournament stands out not just for its format—a traditional five-count-four scoring—but also because of its historical significance. As the inaugural University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate, it adds to the growing interest in women’s golf. According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), interest in women’s collegiate sports, particularly golf, has surged. Reports show a 30% increase in participation in women’s golf over the last decade.

The Prairie Dunes layout will play as a par-70 course stretching 6,005 yards, providing a challenging experience for the competitors. This event could significantly impact the players’ rankings and college golf dynamics moving forward.

Fans can stay updated with live scoring provided by Scoreboard by Clippd throughout the tournament. Expect lively pairings and tee times, with more details to come as the tournament approaches.
