Exciting flavors and the buzz of cooking will fill the Indiana State Fairgrounds this fall as the World Food Championships returns to Indianapolis!
Organizers announced that this popular food competition will be back for its second consecutive year, making it only the second time it has taken place in the Circle City.
According to Mike Eaton, CEO of the World Food Championships, last year’s event exceeded expectations. He mentioned they plan to introduce new features to enhance the experience for both competitors and food lovers. “We want to make it more fun, engaging, and, of course, delicious,” he said.
At the last championship, over 1,200 chefs participated as part of 300 teams, coming from 35 states and 30 countries. This event has traveled around the country since its debut in Las Vegas in 2012 and showcases a variety of categories like barbecue, burgers, and vegetarian dishes.
In its 13 years, the competition has inspired the creation of around 10,000 unique dishes. Cindy Hoye, the Executive Director of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, expressed pride in their collaboration with the World Food Championships, highlighting the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion as a fantastic venue for showcasing culinary talent.
Last year, the junior competition saw success with two students from Carmel winning their category, building excitement leading into the main event.
This year, mark your calendars! The competition will take place a few weeks earlier, from October 16 to 19, in the familiar Fall Creek Pavilion.
