The data portal for the upcoming Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Interdisciplinary Science Rankings is now open! Universities worldwide can join in and submit their data.

Institutions should submit their data to be listed in both rankings, set to be published in autumn 2025. The portal is available for over two months and will close on March 30. There are no fees to enter, but only those that provide data through the portal will be included in the rankings.
To participate in the ISR 2026, which partners with Schmidt Science Fellows, universities must submit their data for both the World University Rankings and additional information about their interdisciplinary science efforts. This is similar to last year’s process.
The first Interdisciplinary Science Rankings debuted in November 2024, with participation from 749 institutions across over 90 countries. This was the largest launch ever for THE.
In response to feedback from universities, this year’s interdisciplinary scope has expanded to include research projects across multiple scientific fields. This can also include projects that combine scientific and social science disciplines.
All universities can submit data for both rankings. However, only those that meet specific criteria will be ranked. Institutions that don’t qualify are still encouraged to submit data. They can access benchmarking tools through THE DataPoints and will be labeled as “reporter” institutions unless they choose to opt out.
The portal offers guidance on data submission in multiple languages. After it closes in March, universities may be contacted to confirm their submitted data.
Last year’s data team, in collaboration with the higher education sector, gathered information from 2,860 institutions across 127 territories for the World University Rankings 2025. Elsevier helped analyze 18 million research publications and 157 million citations for these rankings.
The data collected this year will not only be used for the 2026 rankings but also support various regional and thematic rankings, including the Arab, Asia, and Latin America tables.
In autumn, THE held masterclasses reviewing the results of the World University Rankings 2025 and the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025 while discussing future participation.
