So far, 28 Years Later has earned $60 million worldwide. Audiences can look forward to seeing Spike return in Bone Temple, along with a cameo from 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy.

DaCosta has previously worked on high-profile projects like Marvel’s The Marvels, which faced critical and financial challenges. She expressed that working on Bone Temple felt different, emphasizing her creative control. Boyle noted, “I remember her saying, ‘I’m not going to make a Danny Boyle movie,’ and she has succeeded in making her own vision.”

Meanwhile, Garland transitioned from a writer to director with works like Ex Machina. He admitted he stayed away during filming for 28 Years Later to allow the team to bring their vision to life. “I think in both cases there were a couple of days I was there for rehearsals, but once filming started, I wasn’t involved,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Boyle is eager to see the project grow into a third film, which remains unconfirmed. Rothman shared his hopes: “I don’t want to put a jinx on it. But with such great reviews and a strong start globally, we hope so.”
