Get Ready to Relive the Action: Terminator 2 Arcade Side-Scroller Returns This Year!

After 35 years of feeling a slight letdown with Ocean Software’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day on the ZX Spectrum 128K, I’m excited to share that a new video game based on James Cameron’s classic film is set to release this September. And guess what? It’s going to be in 2D!

Terminator 2D: No Fate is created by Bitmap Bureau, the team behind games like Xeno Crisis and 88 Heroes. This new title promises arcade-style, side-scrolling action that draws from “iconic scenes from Terminator 2” as well as some fresh scenarios.

The game’s standout feature is its beautifully animated pixel art. Plus, in a fun twist, players can control the T-800 as he roams a bar, taking down enemies while surprisingly, not wearing a thing! But that’s not all; you can choose from several characters in Terminator 2D.

Bitmap Bureau designed the T-800 to showcase his strength. He has powerful moves, including a shoulder charge. Though he’s not as quick as the other characters, Sarah Connor and John Connor, he makes up for it with high durability. Sarah, on the other hand, is quick and skilled in close combat. She has a sliding attack and can lock in with a laser sight that boosts her damage.

John Connor, featured as an adult during the Future War missions, is less agile than Sarah but can perform a tactical roll to escape attacks. He focuses on combat from a distance, equipped with a plasma rifle, pipe bombs, and different ammo types. And yes, the iconic T-1000 returns as the main enemy, complete with its liquid metal abilities.

Terminator 2D: No Fate will also feature multiple endings, allowing players to shape humanity’s future. It launches on September 5th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam and Epic Games.
