Good morning, race fans! We’re live from Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, where the tenth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross is about to kick off. Today, we’ll see the first 250 East/West Showdown of the season, and you can count on thrilling races and fun under the sunny skies.
In the 250 West class, Haiden Deegan is leading the pack with a 35-point advantage over his Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing teammate, Max Anstie. Anstie is recovering from an appendectomy he had after Seattle. Michael Mosiman, another teammate, is out with a dislocated elbow, paving the way for Ryder DiFrancesco to move up to third place in the standings, while Levi Kitchen is close behind.
The 250 East division is much tighter. Cole Davies is just one point ahead of Seth Hammaker, who is one point ahead of both Pierce Brown and Jo Shimoda. With only a couple of points separating these four, expect the leaderboard to shake up tonight.
In the 450SX class, Hunter Lawrence holds onto the red plate with a slim four-point lead over Eli Tomac. They’ve been the dominant riders lately, winning the last four rounds. Cooper Webb trails them by 25 points.
Today also marks the final qualifying round for SMX Next. Keep an eye on stars like Kayden Minear, fresh off his A2 win, and Daytona winner Deacon Denno.
Track walk kicks off at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the bikes hitting the track at 11:30 a.m. First up is SMX Next, followed by 250SX sessions and then 450SX groups.
