Nina Dascoli is a second-year law student at Washington and Lee University (W&L Law). Raised in Charleston, West Virginia, she earned her degree in political science and public health from Elon University. Growing up with a union lawyer as a parent sparked her interest in law. Her love for history and advocacy led her down this path.
During her time at Elon, Nina served as president of her sorority and was the senior editor of a political science research journal. These experiences deepened her commitment to law, making law school a natural next step. This summer, she will be a Litigation Summer Associate at Holland & Knight in New York, following her initial role at Bowles Rice LLP in Charleston.
Why W&L Law?
Nina chose W&L Law for its strong alumni network and stunning campus. During an Open House Weekend, she spoke with a Law Ambassador who inspired her. The warmth and support she felt during that visit made her realize this was the right place for her. One month later, she decided to enroll.
Impactful Professors
One teacher who has made a significant impact on Nina’s journey is Professor Maureen Edobor. In her Constitutional Law class, Nina experienced engaging discussions that connected legal concepts to real-world issues. Professor Edobor’s teaching style fosters a richer understanding of democracy, making her a standout mentor.
Becoming a Law Ambassador
Nina wanted to be a Law Ambassador to help prospective students make informed decisions, just as someone had helped her. Her responsibilities include giving campus tours and answering questions about life at W&L Law. Monthly meetings keep her updated on various happenings within the university, and she will assist with Admitted Student Open House events this spring.
Connecting with Future Students
Nina enjoys her role in the Admissions Office because it allows her to meet potential students and showcase W&L Law. This experience has helped her feel even more connected to the Lexington community, making it feel like home.
Looking Ahead
This semester, she is excited about her role in the Women Law Student Organization (WLSO). As vice president of events, Nina is eager to create opportunities for women in the law community to forge connections outside of the classroom.
