The University of Alabama is making travel easier for its community by offering TSA PreCheck® enrollment services. This is a big deal, as it’s the only location in Tuscaloosa County and the first college campus in Alabama to provide this service.
Starting on December 3, students, faculty, staff, and local residents can visit the UA Passport Acceptance Facility for enrollment. The facility will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. People can complete the pre-enrollment process online and then book an appointment at the facility.
Stacy Vaughn, the Executive Director of Campus Mail, expressed enthusiasm about this new service. She said it’s a chance to better serve both the university and the Tuscaloosa community. By providing this program on campus, UA highlights its role as an innovative leader in local resources.
TSA PreCheck® offers several benefits. Members can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on while going through security. They can also leave electronics and compliant liquids in their bags. This means a faster, smoother travel experience—as about 99% of PreCheck® members wait less than 10 minutes at security checkpoints across the country.
To enroll, participants need a U.S. passport or another form of ID. There’s no need for an appointment, and the in-person process is quick.
UA joins a select group of universities nationwide to provide TSA PreCheck®, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing travel convenience for its community.
