Louisiana Tech’s eighth annual Giving Day was a huge success. In March, the community came together to raise more than $1.25 million. This year, 897 gifts came from students, faculty, alumni, corporate partners, and friends.
William Dearmon, the university’s chief development officer, expressed excitement about the strong support. He emphasized that such donations make a real difference. “This helps us reach our goals and improve the student experience,” he said.
The theme this year focused on creating opportunities for students. Donations supported various initiatives, including Athletics, the Prescott Memorial Library, and the Band of Pride. Together, these gifts will enhance learning, drive innovation, and improve the campus atmosphere.
Dr. Heath Tims, CEO of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association, highlighted the importance of alumni support. This year, alumni stepped up to match donations, raising over $30,000 for engagement efforts. “Financial support is just one way our alumni give back. They also lend their time and advocacy to help shape our university’s future,” he added.
This Giving Day showcased the Tech Family’s dedication to student success. It reflects Louisiana Tech’s vision of being a leader in scholarship and hands-on learning.
Statistics show that institutional giving is on the rise. According to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, donations to colleges and universities in the U.S. rose by 9.2% from 2020 to 2021. This trend indicates that communities increasingly recognize the value of investing in education and student success.
