Jaheim Dorman is making waves in the football world. Recently, he shined in the Pocket Rocket Foundation’s Peace Through Sports six-a-side competition. His skills took him all the way to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where he scored a hat-trick in an all-stars football match.
Dorman was part of a 13-man team from the Pocket Rocket Foundation that traveled to SVG from April 8 to April 13. He played in two friendly matches against some of St. Vincent’s top players. In the first game, Dorman led his team to a 3-0 victory, showcasing his talent as the All-Stars dominated the field.
“This was a great experience,” Dorman shared. “Playing in a new environment felt good. I was nervous at first, but my teammates helped me feel confident. They believed I could score a hat-trick, and that pushed me forward.”
While the second match didn’t go as planned, Dorman kept a positive outlook. “I was really pleased with the first game. Sometimes, football doesn’t go your way, but I’m grateful for the whole experience. St. Vincent is beautiful, and I had a great time.”
Dorman’s journey in football began quite early. He graduated from Tivoli Gardens High School in the 2022/2023 academic year, where he made a name for himself by winning the Walker Cup and scoring five goals in his final season. After that, he played for Waterhouse FC in the Jamaica Premier League, netting two goals during the 2022/2023 season. As of 2025, he is with Dunbeholden Football Club, gaining valuable experience in competitive matches.
His passion for the sport ignited when he was only 10 years old, inspired by the excitement of games he watched. He began his football journey with Boys’ Town FC, where he first recognized his skills.
A key influence in Dorman’s life is his mother, who he cites as his greatest motivator. Her encouragement has been crucial in pushing him to improve and reach for his dreams in football.
Dorman also acknowledged the significant role of the Pocket Rocket Foundation’s Six-A-Side Competition. “Winning the MVP and being the leading goalscorer felt incredible, especially for my first time in this competition,” he said.
This foundation offers young athletes a chance to compete and grow, creating opportunities that extend beyond their local communities. The Peace Through Sports program is just one of the initiatives helping athletes like Dorman take significant steps in their careers.
As the sporting world continues to evolve, programs like these can lead to even greater representation and growth for young players. According to a recent report, youth sports programs are crucial for building discipline, teamwork, and confidence—traits that are essential both on and off the field.
Dorman’s story exemplifies how support systems and opportunities can shape the future of young athletes, setting them on a path to success in sports and life.
