Today, Governor Josh Stein visited Eastern Elementary School in Greenville for “Wellness Week,” a time focused on promoting healthy habits among students. During his visit, he interacted with students, teachers, and parents, learning about the school’s free meals program and its STEM initiatives.

“My visit today reminded me that our public schools are essential for our state’s future,” said Governor Stein. “We need to invest in education to help every child succeed, no matter where they come from. I’m committed to working with the legislature to ensure all children have what they need to excel.”
While touring the school, the Governor explored a STEM classroom, where students shared their experiences. He also checked in at the cafeteria, where administrators explained how the free meals have helped improve student focus and learning throughout the day.
Alongside local leaders, Governor Stein shared his education priorities. He emphasized the need to raise teacher salaries, tackle student hunger, and increase support with more school nurses, counselors, and social workers.
