DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has a strong message for undocumented immigrants in the U.S. She advises them to leave the country voluntarily or face serious consequences. On “Jesse Watters Primetime,” she announced a new initiative that requires illegal aliens to register and provide their fingerprints.
Noem emphasized that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act, established in 1952. This law provides various methods to track undocumented immigrants and encourage them to leave the U.S. voluntarily. If they do not comply, they can face criminal penalties.
Those who fail to register or notify the government about any address changes could be fined or imprisoned. “For decades, this law has been ignored – not anymore,” the DHS stated, making it clear that consequences will be enforced.
The goal of Noem and DHS is to convince illegal immigrants that self-deportation is a safer option. “If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream,” said DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin. The administration aims to ensure that they know who is in the country for everyone’s safety.
To help undocumented immigrants understand their options, the DHS encourages them to visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, which offers guidelines on how to register with the government.
Noem’s initiative comes in the wake of her warning to those considering illegal entry into the U.S. “Don’t even think about it,” she noted, asserting that anyone who breaks the law will be sought out. She highlighted a commitment to strengthen borders and address issues related to crime and trafficking.
The current administration is taking action to secure the borders, including deploying military support and resuming wall construction. With these efforts, the DHS is determined to end what they see as a period of weak border enforcement.
This proactive stance reflects the Biden administration’s shift in immigration policy, focusing on stricter enforcement and clearer consequences for undocumented immigrants.
