SPRINGFIELD (25News Now) – Monica Hendrickson, who has been a key figure in public health for Peoria County during the COVID-19 pandemic, is set to continue her important work. Governor JB Pritzker has nominated her for another three-year term on the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
This board plays a critical role in healthcare by approving or denying applications for new or expanded healthcare facilities. Its mission is to prevent unnecessary duplication of services and ensure that facilities are developed where they are most needed, as stated on the state’s website.
Hendrickson has been the public health administrator for Peoria City and County since 2017. Her expertise has proven vital, especially during the health crisis that affected so many.
The board comprises 11 voting members, with at least four coming from outside the Chicago area. Hendrickson’s reappointment is pending confirmation from the Illinois Senate.
